Welcome to The Center for Nonprofit Leadership of the Sierra Nevada's (CNL) website which we hope you will find a helpful portal to help you lead your nonprofit organization. Thank you for your interest and for your engagement in our community.

Our Mission: The Center for Nonprofit Leadership (CNL) exists to strengthen nonprofit organizations in order to advance the quality of community life. Who we are: CNL is a membership-supported organization whose members represent a wide swath of nonprofit public benefit organizations whose board members and executive leadership see the benefit of investing their time and talent engaging with their peers in CNL offerings. Membership is encouraged for nonprofit public benefit organizations. Description: Last year’s highly successful “Business of Non-profits” has been expanded into two half-day workshops to allow more time for participants to directly interact with local experts. Through information sharing, stories and hands-on problem-solving, learn how to strengthen the operational health of your organization. You’ll leave with practical ideas, best practice checklists, and business tools that you can put to work right away to help improve your organization’s business functions.

 

Audience: Board Members, Executive Directors and other staff members interested in learning more about Agency business requirements.

 

Session I - Finance and Operations: Local experts will assist you in understanding financial statements, form 990’s, unrelated business income tax, fiscal sponsorship and other financial issues for non-profits. 

 

Session II – Legal Issues: Attorney Bill Neff will speak on personnel law, supervision issues of both staff and volunteers, conflict of interest law, and how to engage your governmental representatives while adhering to non-profit laws.
